This ‘jazzy’ piece I composed (only) for black keys. You may print and use it. It is meant for everyone after a few years of piano lessons.
I hope it is not hard to play, although the rhythm can be challenging in the beginning (and of course the reading of the flats might be an obstacle). In fact I would like to hear your feedback on how hard it is to handle!
I think it is easier if you use the mp3 audio to understand the rhythm. If you feel the quavers, bar 1-4 is 1-2-3 /1-2-3 / 1-2-3 / 1-2-3 / 1-2 / 1-2 or ‘pineapple /pineapple /pineapple /pineapple /kiwi /kiwi’ (if you don’t like kiwis you can use ‘mango/mango’ )
Bar 5-8 is ‘pineapple/pineapple/kiwi/pineapple/pineapple/kiwi’ etc.

‘Twelve’, mijn compositie voor altviool solo, zal op 26 mei 2018 gespeeld worden bij de officiële opening van het festival ‘Dag in de Branding’ in Den Haag. Uitvoerder is Joe Nicholls. Joe heeft het al een keer gespeeld op 10 februari in Den Haag tijdens een huiskamerconcert georganiseerd door curator Saskia Lankhoorn. Over dat concert mailde Joe me het volgende:

“I enjoyed working on your piece a lot, and it is actually very effective in performance! ‘Twelve’ was a hit at the concert yesterday! You should publish it – public really enjoyed it! Let me know if you write any more beautiful music for viola!”

The purpose of this book is to compose pieces for four hands piano that are not very difficult to play. The pieces have a very logical structure that is easy to memorise, although they seem te be more complicated.
These pieces can be played by beginners after two or three years of piano lessons, as long as they have some sense of rhythm. They are intended for everyone with a playful spirit, independent of age. They might also be interesting for more advanced students because of the challenge to play exactly together.

On October 21 a Piano Trio Day for Early Learners will be organized by the British Piano Trio Society. I feel very honoured to have been invited as one of two speakers at this Chamber Music Festival for early learners.
